The "Pride" performs at all home football games, select away games, leads the homecoming and Pittsburg Christmas Parades, and participates in other school and community events. A highlight of recent years has been performing in the Kansas City Chief's Arrowhead Stadium and cheering on the Gorillas at the NCAA Division 2 National Championships. |

The Ram Marching Band supports the football team at all home football games and usually travels to at least one away game each season. The band also gives exhibition and parade performances in Rhode Island and in the surrounding region, and supports URI for “Meet the University” days and other special events. Members of the Ram Marching Band represent a wide variety of perspectives and experiences. With music majors constituting only 20% of its membership, the Ram Marching Band contains students from all fields of study (including engineering, pharmacy, oceanography, etc.). Those members who join with little or no experience in marching band are carefully taught in a very supportive environment. Those members who have extensive marching experience (competition, drum corps) appreciate the strong emphasis on musicianship and overall quality. |

The Pride of Mississippi performs at all home football games, numerous away games, and high school marching band contests and festivals during the football season, and has performed before presidents, governors, and even the Lord Mayor of Dublin, Ireland twice (1993 and 1997, having toured throughout the United States and to England and Ireland. Performing for such events as the F.D.R. inaugural parade in the 1930s, the Senior Bowl, and professional and collegiate bowl games including a performance with the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field in 2006. The Pride has enjoyed more television and national audience exposure than any other band in the South. The program at Southern Miss is regarded throughout the nation as one of the finest band programs.

The Marching Band performs a traditional pre-game show with varied half-time shows throughout the season; the DMB performs a different half-time show for each home game. In addition to six hours of rehearsal per week, activities are arranged to be compatible with student schedules. The "Pride of The Cherry and White" Marching Band performs at all home games and also travels to select away games and to Bowl Games. The Diamond Marching Band participated in the 2011 New Mexico Bowl, the 2009 EagleBank Bowl, the first Sugar Bowl in 1935 (Temple vs. Tulane), the Mirage Bowl held in Tokyo, Japan, the Garden State Bowl at the Giants Stadium, and the "We the People 200 Parade", celebrating the bicentennial of the United States Constitution. The Diamond Marching Band is regularly invited to perform at exhibitions. The Diamond Marching Band has also appeared on television for the Today Show, Good Morning America, and Hardball, as well as commercials, an upcoming TV series, and on the big screen in the Oscar nominated film "The Wolf of Wall Street." Adam Blackstock Members in Marching Band: 250 Enrollment of University: 19,579 Mascot: Trojans University Notes: The Troy University Band has been an intricate part of the university since 1939 when Lawrence Peterson was appointed the first director. A year later the marching band made its first public appearance during Homecoming festivities. Peterson held his position for seven years. In 1947 Gilbert Stephenson accepted the baton as the second director. The following year hosted many changes for the band including the first show complete with marching uniforms, the first guest appearance by Paul Yoder, and the first spring band festival all occurred in 1948. In 1953 the band received its third director, John P. Graham. Two years later, in 1955, James Patrenos was appointed as fourth director of the band. In 1960 Richard Melvin was selected as the fifth director. Students saw the beginning of summer band clinics in 1962. Carl Vollrath held the position of Interim Director from 1964-1965. The band known today as the "Sound of the South" was founded in 1965 by the legendary Dr. John M. Long. In addition to building a nationally recognized band program, he also served as the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, Dean of the School of Fine Arts and special assistant to Chancellor Dr. Ralph Adams. He was one of the first southern bandmasters to be elected as president of the prestigious American Bandmasters Association. In 1996, he was elected to the National Band Association Hall of Fame of Distinguished Band Conductors. It was during the thirty-two year tenure of Dr. Long that the band program at Troy University established a national reputation through its many featured appearances at music conventions, concert tours and recordings with the symphony band, as well as nationally televised appearances with the "Sound of the South" Marching Band. |

The Statesmen rehearse first 8 weeks of school, three times a week at 3:30 pm, and perform at all home games. The Apache Marching Band is the most visible element of the band program at Tyler Junior College. Its primary role is performing at football games, parades and exhibition performances at high schools and marching band contests. There are plentiful scholarships available for all interested students who qualify by audition. Comprised of approximately 200 members, The Apache Band is the largest student organization on campus and stands as an ever evolving icon of both old and new campus traditions. The Apache Marching Band performs both on and off the TJC campus and travels to other campuses during the football season. The band also makes frequent featured appearances at various regional and area marching contests, and performs innovative music and drill that represents the contemporary drum corps marching style with the infusion of excitement. In addition to the marching band, TJC fields a winter indoor percussion line, as well. |
